Pollinator Friendly Rain Gardens Severna Park
Sep 16th, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pmFree
Wrap up our 2018 Pollinator Club Meetup series with AAC Master Gardener Elizabeth Matarese in an informative session you may be interested in if you have a low spot on your property. Getting a pollinator-friendly rain or bog garden started now, in the fall, means less labor in the spring and a leg-up on what could be a wet or cold winter! What better way to herald in crisp weather than a little outdoor project?
Elizabeth Materese has always been a gardener…from the time she could stand up and hold a hoe! Her dad’s first lessons involved weeding, and from there recognition of the difference between them and the “plants in the right places”! After an aviation career, a teaching career, and several years as a mother career, she returned to her literal roots, earned her certificates in landscape design and horticulture, her Maryland certification as a professional horticulturist, and became the ecology instructor for the AAC Master Gardener program. She instructs also at AACC. “I am using my skill set. From the M.A. in English to the certificates and the certification as a CPH, and even my CFII pilot skills. It’s just all part and parcel of the grand scheme of being happy.”
