The Retail Operations/Customer Service Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day management of the front-end retail operations of the Homestead Gardens retail store as well as ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout. This includes planning, budgeting, staffing and facilities management, as well as overseeing the Customer Service Desk, cashiers and loaders.

• Excellent customer interaction and satisfaction, responding quickly to customer needs in a friendly and personal manner, while maintaining outstanding standards and solid product knowledge.
• Solid leadership with an attention to detail coupled with the ability to provide direction in matters of prioritizing projects, effective utilization of labor, training of new personnel, customer service issues, and the desire to elevate present standards of operation.
• Experience with POS systems, specifically Epicor Eagle POS.
• Ability to work a full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Leadership, training and communication skills, with the ability to lead by example.
• Must have the ability to lift/move product weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• This position operates in a retail garden center, with indoor and outdoor areas. The performance of this position does include exposure to extremes of weather and temperature.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 3 years of management and customer service experience in a retail environment, preferably in the garden center industry.

Homestead Gardens, one of the most progressive green industry businesses in the US, is looking for a full-time Farm Manager for it's Davidsonville, MD location.  

This position is responsible for oversight of daily care of resident animals and farm facilities and equipment.  This role also works with the retail store departments to achieve shared business objectives, including lending a hand when needed. The Farm Manager  provides animal and plant knowledge to the public via community programs.  

• Responsible for oversight of and daily care of resident animals, including cows, alpacas, goats, chickens, ducks, and pigs.
• Raise and manage our breeding flock for chick season and collect, wash, deliver eggs daily from pastured-raised flock of chickens for sale in retail store.
• Maintain different types of fencing (both electric polywire and field fencing) at farm.
• Operate lawn mower and weed wacker, keeping lawns mowed
• Annual fertilizing, liming, overseeding of pastures
• Provide training to other staff; give feedback and review goals
• Collaborate with local farms and businesses to generate interest in agriculture for youth in the community.  
• On-call for animal emergencies 24/7.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Need a driver's license and ability to drive livestock trailer and transport animals.
• Must be available to work flexible hours if needed during peak times of the year. 
• Ability to work in a team environment as a leader and a member of the team. 
• Experience performing duties of an experienced beekeeper is a plus.

Education/Experience:
