Homestead Gardens Plant Guarantee

Homestead Gardens fully guarantees certain plant material for a replacement plant or store credit. Please see specific plant guarantees listed below. If your plant does not survive, please return it together with your original sales receipt to our Customer Service Desk. We cannot offer a guarantee on any plant material without a sales receipt. This is a one-time replacement only and replacement plants will carry no guarantee. Sorry, no cash or credit card refunds will be issued.

Plants must receive sufficient light, water and suitable soil conditions. Should your plant begin to appear unhealthy, bring a sample to our diagnostic center for analysis and recommendations. If a plant is brought back for a refund and still has live buds and green tissue, we will not be able to offer a refund. Homestead Gardens is not responsible for plants that are affected by extreme natural conditions (i.e. floods, ice, drought) or neglect by the customer.

The following lists the plant guarantees that we offer when an original sales receipt is presented:

Trees & Shrubs:
Up to one year from date on original sales receipt. 100% store credit of original purchase price towards replacement will be given. If Homestead Gardens professional planting service planted the trees and shrubs there is a one year guarantee on plants and we will plant your replacement plant at no charge. This guarantee increases to two years if a member of our Garden Rewards loyalty program. No guarantee will be given on trees and shrubs planted in a container, left in original container or those damaged by mechanical injury.
Roses & Ground Covers:
Up to 30 days from date on original sales receipt. 100% store credit or replacement will be given.
Greenhouse Plants (Houseplants, Citrus, Indoor Tropicals):
Up to 30 days from date on original sales receipt. 100% store credit or replacement will be given.
Perennials:
Up to 90 days from date on original sales receipt. 100% store credit or replacement will be given.
Annuals and Outdoor Tropicals:
No guarantee.

We are unable to offer a guarantee on the following: Bonsai, pond plants, fish, live balled Christmas trees, cut Christmas trees, evergreens bought during December, container gardens and sod.

All clearance items (50% off or greater) are deemed final sale and no guarantees or returns will be offered.

Planting Nursery Stock

1. Dig a hole 8″ wider than the root ball, and not quite as deep. Amend the soil. We recommend a soil amendment such as Leafgro and Bloom.

2. With container-grown plants, carefully slash the root ball with a knife and place plant in the hole. In case of burlapped plants, place plant in the hole, cut the cord binding the burlap, and peel back the burlap from the top of the root ball. Make sure that the top of the root ball is slightly above the surface of the surrounding soil in both cases.

3. Backfill half of the soil, gently tamping it down as you go.

4. Pour a diluted mixture of plant starter solution or granular Biotone near the roots, and back fill the rest of the soil, gently tamping down as you go.

5. Shape the soil into a circular moat, so that the water will flow neither away from the new planting, nor toward the trunk of the plant.

6. Water thoroughly and add 2″ of mulch. Do not mound around the trunk of the tree.

7. Stake if necessary.

8. Water slowly two or three times per week. Water more often during dry weather.

 

Plant Return Policy

We will gladly accept a return on unused, undamaged merchandise in its original packaging with an original receipt within a period of 30 days for a full refund. Plant items that are returned must be in live, sellable condition.

  1. Merchandise credit only for perished plants
  2. Trees & Shrubs within 1 year of date of purchase
  3. Perennials & Roses within 30 days of purchase
  4. House & Tropical plants within 30 days of purchase

Exclusions include:

  1. Homestead Garden Centers is not responsible for plants that are damaged by
    physical injury, lack of care or extreme natural conditions.
  2. Replacement plant material does not carry a warranty.

Merchandise Return Policy

  1. Returns accepted within 30 days of purchase.
  2. All merchandise must be in sale-able condition for a credit or
    refund to be issued.
  3. No damaged merchandise will be accepted.

Refunds will be handled as follows:

Cash Purchases: A cash refund will be issued at the register for purchases under $100.00. Purchases exceeding $100.00 will be issued a store credit or mailed a check within 10 days of return.

Check Purchases: Check purchases that are returned within 10 days of purchase will be mailed a check within 10 days. Check purchases returned after 10 days will be issued a cash refund for purchases under $100.00. A check or store credit will be issued for those check purchases over $100.00.

Returns without a Receipt: A store credit will be issued for the lowest sale price for the item when returned unused and free of damage in the original packaging. Returns without a receipt are a benefit provided to members of the “Garden Rewards” loyalty program only.

Holiday Return Policy

As always, we will gladly accept a return on unused, and damaged merchandise in its original packaging with an original receipt within a period of 30 days for a full refund. Garden rewards members do not need a receipt so long as we can find the item on their account.

Items returned without a receipt will receive a store credit for the lowest sale price for that item when it is returned, unused, and free of damage in the original packaging. Again, returns without a receipt are only a benefit provided to members of the garden rewards loyalty program.

  • Winter Holiday gift returns will be accepted until January 15 with a gift receipt.
  • Special orders, cushions, and clearance merchandise 50% off or greater are final sale items with no guarantee and are non-refundable unless proven defective.
  • Greenhouse Seasonal Plants have the same return policy as annuals. Poinsettias, Amaryllis, Paper Whites, and the like are non-refundable.

 

Myrtle Money Return Policy

When returning items purchased with myrtle money, the return value of each item is based on the discounted amount paid shown on your receipt.
