Systems Administrator

Homestead Gardens has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Systems Administrator to support its network operations.  This individual must have on-hands knowledge of the Microsoft Windows environment and be able to diagnose and repair a variety of telephone, computer and network hardware.  A strong understanding of server applications, Active Directory, database, firewall, antivirus, backup, cloud, web and mail services is a must.  Some experience with virtual environments, Epicor Eagle POS, application integration plus various database and report writers is a plus.  This position requires excellent organization, communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to quickly learn new applications.  A minimum of five (5) years of directly-related experience is required.  If you are qualified and interested, please complete our online Employment Application and send your resume to HR@homesteadgardens.com.

Nursery/Perennials Department Manager

Homestead Gardens has an immediate job opportunity for a Manager of its Nursery/Perennials Department at the Davidsonville retail garden center.  This individual is responsible for running and supervising the daily operations of the Nursery/Perennials Department and its staff, including preparation of work schedules, mentoring and opening and closing the Store as required.  This individual works closely with the Nursery Buyer and Perennials Buyer.  Other responsibilities include overseeing pruning, fertilization, watering, insect and disease prevention and weed control of the Nursery/Perennials retail sales yard and surrounding display plantings, as well as oversees the receiving aspects of the plants and products and directs the placement of plant material in the sales yard.   

This position requires the availability to work a flexible schedule, as business cycle requires, including weekends.

Annuals/Greenhouse (Houseplants) Department Manager

Homestead Gardens has an immediate job opportunity for Manager of its Annuals/Greenhouse (Houseplants) Department at the Davidsonville retail garden center.  This individual is responsible for running and supervising the daily operations of the Annuals/Greenhouse Department and its staff, including preparation of work schedules, mentoring and opening and closing the Store as required.  This individual works closely with the Annuals/Greenhouse Buyer, as well as manages and monitors overall quality control and product maintenance, creating outstanding color displays to promote annuals, tropicals, indoor plants and foliage on a seasonal basis.

This position requires the availability to work a flexible schedule, as business cycle requires, including weekends.

A Bachelor’s degree in an Agricultural discipline or minimum of three years equivalent work experience in a horticultural environment are required.  Knowledge of all aspects of annuals and indoor plants is a must.

Small Engine Mechanic

Homestead Gardens has a full-time position available immediately for a small engine mechanic. This individual will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of the Company’s small engine equipment (i.e. blowers, trimmers, sod cutters, chain saws, weed eaters, etc.)  Applicant must have at least three years experience and be very proficient in this craft.

Inventory Data Entry Clerk

Homestead Gardens has an immediate job opportunity for a full-time, detail-oriented individual to help maintain an accurate inventory of all products in our Stores.  This clerical/data entry position includes the daily receiving and maintenance of purchase orders in the computer, creating new SKUs for new products, maintaining pricing changes, downloading vendor orders from Excel into POs, and setting up new vendors in the system.  Other duties include printing tags for various departments.    You must be able to multitask and work in fast-paced environment.  Skills/Qualifications:  Excellent organization, typing, data entry skills, proficient with Excel, good math skills, and ability to work independently.  If you are qualified and interested, please complete our online Employment Application and send your resume to HR@homesteadgardens.com.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Pet Department - All Positions

Landscape Division Design Sales Associate

Homestead Gardens is seeking a full time Design Sales Associate experienced in landscape design and sales for residential and commercial clients. We offer a broad range of landscape design/build and maintenance services. If you enjoy working with a team of dedicated professionals serving clients, and possess the ability to create professional proposals that accurately estimate the cost and timeline of the project, we would love to hear from you. Carpenter
